National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment Nagaland conducted a five-day free cataract surgery eye camp at District Hospital Tuensang from January 23 to the 27th.
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO) of Tuensang stated that beneficiaries of Tuensang district and neighbouring villages Shamator and Noklak districts have availed the facility.
The camp was conducted by Dr. Phyantsuthung, consultant of eye specialist at DH Tuensang; Neikhropeu Mero, senior nurse of eye OT at NHAK; Megohenuo Kehie, ophthalmic assistant at NHAK; and Tochi Imlong, ophthalmic assistant at DH Tuensang.
Report stated that a total number of 223 patients were treated of various eye ailments and were given medicines free of charge. Besides, a total of 33 cataract surgeries were successfully performed.
