INR 6 lakh cash and important documents stolen from parked vehicle in Dimapur; police register FIR, launch investigation.

DIMAPUR — Cash amounting to INR 6 lakh, along with several documents, was stolen from a parked vehicle at the Naga Shopping Arcade (Super Market) area in Dimapur on March 4 morning.
An FIR has been registered at East Police Station in connection with the case and police are currently probing the incident.
Speaking to the media, the victim, Shahyong Phom, said that the theft occurred at around 9.30 am while he had briefly stopped at the area to purchase vegetables before leaving for his hometown in Longleng district.
According to him, the cash was kept inside the vehicle. He said that he had withdrawn INR 5 lakh from a bank on March 3 and was carrying another INR 1 lakh he already had, taking the total to INR 6 lakh.

The victim shared that the vehicle had been parked along the roadside while he went shopping for about 10–15 minutes, during which the money was allegedly stolen.
Phom said that the driver had not locked the vehicle when they left to buy vegetables.
In addition to the cash, several “important” documents were also stolen. Phom said that the missing items include tender orders, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and other related papers.
Owing to the incident, he said that he was forced to postpone his planned journey to Longleng and remain in Dimapur to assist with the police investigation and initiate the process of reissuing the stolen documents.
He added that police are in touch with him regarding the case, but no information has yet been received on the recovery of either the cash or the documents.
