Local taxi drivers are seen collecting car passes at NST bus stand, regional taxi parking, Kohima, on July 3.

Our Correspondent
Kohima, July 3 (EMN):
Local taxi drivers in Kohima were issued car passes basing on odd and even numbers on Friday at NST bus stand, regional taxi parking, Kohima.

A source informed this newspaper that the administration had issued around 900 passes to registered local taxi drivers. The source also informed that they had to give out the passes from the NST station, though the area was small and congested, as the local ground was engaged for another purpose.

While admitting that Covid-19 protocols could not be strictly maintained as specified, particularly on social distancing, the source informed that they had to concede with the location as there was alternative.

Earlier, the superintendent of police, Kohima, had issued an order for implementation of odd-even system on the movement of vehicles. It stated that vehicles with registration number ending with odd numbers would be allowed to ply on odd-dated days, while vehicles ending with even numbers were permitted to ply on even-dated days.
