PDFA Junior FC and Phek Town FC won their opening matches in the 9th Captain N Kenguruse MVC Memorial Trophy in Kohima.

KOHIMA — PDFA Junior FC and Phek Town FC registered victories in their opening matches of the 9th edition of the Captain N Kenguruse MVC Memorial Trophy, played on Monday at Indira Gandhi (IG) Stadium, Kohima.
In the first match, PDFA Junior FC dominated Shamatorian FC with a convincing 6-0 win.
Namheichube opened the scoring in the 10th minute and doubled the lead in the 43rd minute. Gaichuipoi netted in the 30th and 36th minutes before completing his hat-trick in the 71st minute. Ramchang sealed the win in the 80+1 minute, capitalising on a defensive lapse.

In the second match, Phek Town FC edged past Damokles FC 1-0. The decisive goal came from Munguhu in the 65th minute. Despite maintaining 61.85% possession, Damokles FC failed to convert their opportunities.
