Kohima, Oct. 30 (EMN): ARC Athibung, Peren, Tsurankong FC, Mokokchung, FC Naganimora, Mon and Upper Khomi FC, Phek won their respective matches on the second day of the ongoing Capt. N Kenguruse Memorial Football Tournament (state level) played at the IG stadium in Kohima on Wednesday, October 30.
Three hat-tricks were scored on the second day of the tournament.
Playing the first match of the day, ARC Athibung, Peren trounced United Vikings, Kiphire 5-1.
ARC completely dominated the game over United Vikings scoring five goals in the first half with Winam becoming the first hat-trick scorer of the tournament. He booted his first goal in the 2nd minute, which is so far the fastest goal ever scored.
During the second session, Paujauklung and Jaugminlen increased the tally by adding two goals for ARC.
The face saver for United Vikings came from the boots of Atsase Sangtam in the 78th minute ending the match 5-1 in favour of ARC.
In the second match, Tsurangkong FC, Mokokchung defeated Team Young XI, Kiphire 2-1 to enter the pre-quarter finals.
Tsurangkong took an early lead through Temyanger who scored the opening goal within the fifth minute mark while Imkong connected the second goal in the first minute of the second half making it 2-0.
Team Young fought back hard and found the back of the net through David in the 51st minute. However, Team Young failed to find the much needed equaliser as Tsurangkong FC was able to hold on to the 2-1 lead till the final whistle.
FC Nagnimora, Mon blanked Wokha XI Tigers, Wokha 3-0 in the third match of the day.
All the three goals for FC Nagnimora came through the boots of striker Kemito who became the second hat-trick scorer of the tournament.
In the last match of the day, Upper Khomi FC, Phek humiliated Longleng FC, Longleng 8-0 to enter the pre-quarters.
Kudahu Dzudo of Upper Khomi became the third hat-trick scorer of the tournament. He booted his first-two goals in the first half while completing his hat-trick in the 48th minute. Kudahu went on to score his fourth goal in the 51st minute to become the highest scorer so far.
Nikhosa Vero, Lungmedou, Thupuzhohu Huzhu and DS Nakro added a goal each for Upper Khomi.
