Tuli Utd, Vanguard FC enter next round
YA Merangkong, Green FC, Laimcishm, Friends Utd register win

Kohima, Sep. 14 (EMN): Illung scored a hat-trick to steer Tuli United FC to the second round of the ongoing 3rd Captain Kenguruse Memorial Football Tournament here at Kohima local ground.
Tuli United came from behind to steal the victory as their opponents Noklak FC made an early breakthrough in the 7th minute when Peshe found the back of the net. Tuli United FC came back strong to score the equalizer minutes before the interval when Illung scored his first goal in the 35th minute.
Moving into the second half, the Tuensang team again took lead through Thengem in the 63rd minute, but their celebration was short-lived as Illung again levelled the score in the 71st minute. Entering the final ten minutes, it was celebration time again for Illung who went on to score his hat-trick goal in the 83rd minute to end the match 3-2.
Playing the second match at Kohima local ground, the DGP Kohima had an early exit from the tournament following their defeat against Vanguard FC via tiebreaker.
Earlier, the DGP team drew the first blood through Akhio Sumi in the 66th minute. However, Vanguard FC’s centre forward Kezhose Mathew came to the rescue of his team when his touch got passed the keeper in the 71st minute to take the match to the tie-breaker.
Meanwhile, playing the first match at Tsiese Basa ground, Youth Association Merangkong also came from behind to rout Pochury FC 2-1.
Pochury FC took the lead when Rhongusho scored in the 28th minute, but two minutes later, YA Merangkong equalized in the 30th minute through Imtimayang. The second half belonged to YA Merangkong as Ilonger’s goal in the 58th minute was enough to take them to the next round.
In the second match at Tsiese Basa, Green FC blanked Surayin FC 6-2 to make it to the next round.
Tova displayed a heroic performance as he scored thrice in both the intervals. Tova scored an early goal for Green FC in the 16th minute, however, James equalized for Surayin FC in the 28th minute.
Tova put his team ahead again when he scored his second in the 36th minute, while Kimiyieto scored the third for Green FC. Just before the interval, Kisumew minimised the score line when he scored for Surayin in the 43rd minute. In the second half, Tova was in the forefront again when he scored his hat-trick goal in the 51st minute to give his team a comfortable lead, while Shiyeto also scored a few minutes later.
By the 58th minute, it was all over for Surayin as Kimiyieto scored his second goal and sealed the match with a score line of 6-2 in favour of Green FC.
In the third match at Tsiese Basa, Laimcishm FC beat Zisaji XI 3-1 to qualify for the next round.
It was Nyakshisg who scored in the 17th minute for Laimcishm, while Shumgted dobled the lead in the 29th minute.
Laimcishm placed in a comfortable lead with 3-0 when Shumgted scored his second in the 46th minute. The lone goal for for Zisaji XI was scored by Apeu in the 69th minute.
Playing the last match, Friends United Wokha overcame Nine Zone Peren via tie-breaker to enter the next round. The match headed for spot kick as both the teams were placed in a 3-3 tie till the end of the stipulated 90 minutes.
Earlier in the match, the goals for the Wokha team were scored by Zuben Kithan in the 12th minute and Ekonthung Kithan, while Subenthung scored in the second half.
As for Nine Zone, Pausuihube Hegui scored in the 19th and 58th minutes, while Apeu Irangbe scored in the 85th minute.
