
Dr. Zokho Venuh and faculty members of Capital College of
Higher Education during the launch of academic assignment booklet in Kohima on
Saturday.
- DIMAPUR — The
Research Cell and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Capital College of
Higher Education (CCHE) on Saturday organised a one-day faculty development
programme (FDP) on the theme “Rethinking assignments: Designing tasks that
enhance student engagement.”
- The introductory session was chaired by Chubarenla
Longkumer, head of Political Science department, while the opening prayer was
said by Vevohu Kezo, vice principal of the college.
- An update from the college stated that Opangmenla Jamir,
IQAC coordinator, introduced the theme of FDP by emphasising the importance of
well-structured academic tasks in fostering deeper student engagement and
critical thinking.
- It stated that the technical sessions provided valuable
insights into designing effective assignments.
- In the first technical session, the college principal and
resource person, Dr. Zokho Venuh, spoke on the topic "The importance and
principles of effective assignments." He highlighted how well-designed
assignments contribute to student learning outcomes, critical thinking and
problem-solving skills.
- In the second technical session, the head of English
department and resource person, Dr. Rukulu Kezo, spoke on the topic
"Designing effective assignments." She focused on the practical
aspects of assignment design, ensuring that tasks are both engaging and
pedagogically sound.
- During the interactive session, Khrielakuo Kets, assistant
professor of History, provided faculty members with an opportunity to engage in
collaborative discussions, share best practices and seek clarifications on
assignment-related challenges.
- It stated that the participants actively exchanged ideas on
making assignments more engaging, inclusive and aligned with learning
objectives.
- The event was marked with release of ‘Academic assignment
writing in APA format: A guide for undergraduate students,’ published by the
Research Cell. The book was launched by the college principal.
