Kohima, May 8 (EMN): State Sports Academy defeated State Boys Hostel 2-0 to emerge as the champions at the CAPF Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament organised by the Assam Rifles here at Kohima local ground.
Chaba of State Sports Academy (SSA), who scored a hat-trick in their semi-final match against Sports Authority of India, STC, Dimapur on Saturday, was again on target as he scored both the goals to guide his team to victory.

Chaba drew the first blood for SSA in the first half with a simple touch that got past the keeper, while he scored his second after the interval through a spot kick following the defender of State Boys Hostel’s Bapen was caught by the referee for a handball inside the 18 yard circle.
Going by the match, the State Sports Academy who dominated in all fronts, proved far too strong for the Boys Hostel team. The SSA players also had an extra advantage to their favour as they were physically more superior to the State Boys Hostel team who were also a much younger team in comparison.
The State Boys Hostel players were made to labour hard from the initial part of the match as the SSA team made successive attempts. The SSA, who had the upper hand of the match, had majority of the ball possession throughout the match.
SSA forward player Kakhevi almost found the third goal in the second half, but his long-distance shot hit the upper bar. The SSA players maintained their momentum till the end of the match. Moving into the final quarter of the match, the SSA created ample scoring opportunities, but couldn’t make any successful penetration, and ended the match with 2-0 on the score board.
Meanwhile, earlier on the day, Sweet Poison Club, IG Academy, Kohima downed Girls Sports Hostel, Dimapur 3-0 to lift the title in girls’ category.
Player of the tournament Akala led from the front as she scored twice in guiding her team to victory. Akala scored the first and third goals, while Sangki netted the second goal for the IG girls.
The third place in boys category was bagged by Sports Authority of India, STC, Dimapur, while Young Girls Club, IG Academy, Kohima won the third place match in girls category. It may be mentioned that both the third place matches were played on Sunday (May 7). For the individual awards in boys category, Sinlo of State Boys Hostel, Dimapur, was adjudged as the
‘Player of the Tournament’, while Sedevituo of Christ King Higher Secondary School, Kohima bagged the award for the ‘Best Goalkeeper’.
In girls’ category, Akala Jamir of Sweet Poison Club, IG Academy Kohima and Sezovelu of Girls Sports Hostel, Dimapur were adjudged as the ‘Player of the Tournament’ and ‘Best Goalkeeper’ respectively. The winner in individual categories received Rs 5,000 each. The champions in both categories were awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- respectively, while the runners-up team also received a trophy and Rs. 40,000/- respectively. The third place winners were given Rs. 20,000/- each.
The final match was graced by Chief Minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu as the chief guest and Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan as the guest of honour.
