Chaba scores hat-trick as State Sports Academy enters final
SAI Dimapur and CKHSS to fight for third place today

Kohima, May 6 (EMN): Chaba scored a hat-trick as State Sports Academy defeated Sports Authority of India, STC, Dimapur 3-0 to advance to the final of the ongoing CAPF Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament organised by Assam Rifles here at Kohima local ground.
Hat-trick scorer Chaba drew the first blood for State Sports Academy (SSA) in the 1st minute of the match through a spot kick following a handball from one of the defenders of SAI STC, Dimapur within the 18 yard circle.Just few minutes into the match, the SAI players were made to go defensive as the SSA players pressed into their defence line from the first whistle.
Chaba went on to score his second goal in the 10th minute as he dribbled past the opponent’s defenders to deliver a brilliantly shot.
Trailing by two goals in the first quarter of the match, the SAI players were made to go offensive; however, they were unable to make successful penetration into the strong defence line-up of SSA which ended the first half 2-0.
Moving into the second half, a rejuvenated SAI team fought back to stay in the game, but the SSA proved too strong for them.
Heading into the final minutes of the match, it was celebration time again for Chaba as he netted his hat-trick goal in the 88th minute and to end the match 3-0.
Earlier in the first semifinal, State Boys Hostel, Nagaland also made it through to the final following their victory against Christ King Higher Secondary School (CKHSS), Kohima 2-1.
One goal each from Sinlo and Mughahoto, in the end was decisive for State Boys Hostel to make it through to the final. State Boys Hostel took the first lead when Sinlo scored in the 18th minute, while Mughahoto secured their victory by netting the second goal in the 51st minute.
CKHSS fought back determinedly, however the lone goal from Zeneilhou in the 65th minute was not enough to push them to the final.
The semi-final matches for girls were held at IG Stadium Kohima, wherein, Sweet Poison Club, IG Academy defeated Young Girls Club, IG Academy 3-0 to advance to the final.
Playing the second semifinal, Girls Sports Hostel, Dimapur cruised into the final following their victory against Christ King Higher Secondary School, Kohima 6-0.
The third place match for both the categories is scheduled today in the afternoon. The third place match for boys will be played at Kohima local ground, while the girls’ match will be held at IG Stadium.
The second semifinal match at Kohimal local ground was graced by Home Commissioner of Nagaland, Abhijeet Sinha as the chief guest.
