DIMAPUR — As part of the ongoing capacity-building efforts, a training session for all block level officers (BLOs) under 4 Ghaspani-I and 5 Ghaspani-II assembly constituencies was held at DC’s conference hall, Chümoukedima, on Tuesday.
In his address, DC Chumoukedima Polan John highlighted the crucial role of intensive summary revision in preparing electoral rolls and conducting elections in line with Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.
He noted that intensive summary revision is essential for clean electoral rolls, beyond just rhetoric about clean elections. John requested BLOs, EROs, supervisors, and AEROs to approach their election-related duties with seriousness, given their deputation to the ECI.
He informed that there are some new features that the ECI has come up with and for which two BLOs from Ghaspani-l and Ghaspani-ll were selected and sent to Delhi for training.
The DC stressed the need for sincerity and thoroughness in their work, particularly during house-to-house visits to ensure accurate voter data and enrolment of eligible voters.

Kuzonyi Wideo, ADC & ERO, Chümoukedima, informed that the ECI has introduced changes in forms and apps, to be updated during training. On polling station bifurcation, he clarified that only stations with over 1,200 voters will be considered, as per directives from the ECI and CEO office.
Wideo added that ideally, polling stations should be bifurcated if voters are beyond a 2km radius, but the ECI's specific directive on this matter is still pending. He assured that they will implement it once the guidelines are received.
Further, he mentioned that soon after the capacity building training, house to house verification and pre revision activities will be conducted. He therefore requested all BLOs, to be attentive throughout the training, to keep up with the modifications in the forms and application.
All BLOs under 4 Ghaspani-I and 5 Ghaspani-II ACs and AERO of Medzhiphema, Niuland and Chümoukedima, attended the training programme.
The training session, led by Ketoulhounuo Thakro and Nikavi Chishi, focused on critical areas like constitutional provisions, BLO responsibilities, special intensive revision, and booth awareness groups, including hands-on activities like role-playing and form distribution.
