Dimapur, June 11 (EMN): As a mark of respect and honour to late SS Khaplang, Chairman of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K), members from different social networking sites/ blog/ WhatsApp groups, facebook namely Naga Discussion Forum (NDF), The Naga Mirror (TNM), Sumi Youth Hoho (SYH), The Naga Political Analysis Wing (NPAW) have jointly organised a candlelight service on June 10 at the State capital, Kohima, High School Junction at 11:30 p.m. and in Dimapur on June 11 at the Naga Shopping Arcade, this evening at 8 p.m.

In a short message, Heno Lushing, speaker of Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union Kohima (ENSUK), reminded the gathering on the immeasurable sacrifices rendered by late SS Khaplang towards the Naga political aspiration. He urged the present generation to carry on the baton passed down to us by our departed leader, while he also urged all the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) to come together in true spirit of unity and oneness through proper political dialogue so that our fight/ dream/ aspiration to become one Naga nation will come to pass.
Heno also read out the last message of SS Khaplang, which was addressed to his fellow Naga brethren before his last breath.
The participants also observed a minute of silence as a mark of respect to the departed leader, who expired on June 10 in Myanmar. The organisers also pasted posters in the venue some of which read "Another leader down but, the legacy will live on," "Every drop and tears of you shall be rewarded," "The true and great Naga Nation freedom struggle leader has gone for eternal rest," "A legend who never compromised on Naga Sovereignty till his last breath," etc.
A short sermon was delivered by Kito Shohe, Assistant pastor of Sumi Baptist Church, Kohima, (SBCK) basing on Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, which says there is time for everything, a season for every activity under the heavens, a time to be born and a time to die.
Participants also shared the grief, sorrow and pain at the loss of their great leader and conveyed condolence to the bereaved family, friends, comrades and to the Naga nation as a whole.
Despite late hour and short notice, around 30 plus young Naga patriots from different walks of life gathered to pay their respect to the departed leader. The service concluded with a prayer by a pastor.
In Dimapur, about 50 persons attended the ceremony.
