Diphu, Jan. 28 (EMN): Various students and civic organisations converged for a candlelight procession in Diphu town on Jan. 28, Sunday evening in memory of two Dimasa persons Mithun Dibragede and Probanta Hakmosa who were reportedly killed during a police firing at Maibang Railways station in Dima Hasao district on Jan. 25 during a rally.
The candlelight procession started from Dimasa Club through Rongpharpi Rongbe via Diphu Market MG road and concluded at Semson Sing Engti Memorial Park. The procession was organised by the Dimasa Students Association (DSA), Karbi Student’s Association (KSA), Kuki Students Organisation (KSO), and 24+Organisations.
Talking to the media persons, Dimasa Sahitya Sabha’s district committee general secretary Satya Brat Kemprai said that a CBI enquiry should be constituted to nab the culprits. Regarding the issue of territorial integrity none of the political parties should not take political mileage out of it ‘as we are living in our own region,’ he said.
Further, compensation has been demanded for victims’ death and compensation for the injured.
The organisations have denounced the Assam police for the killing of public members and blamed the law and order authorities for their ‘failure in administering the district.’
The groups have also demanded the state’s and central govt. make the “greater Nagalim accord” public.
