Kohima, Feb. 12 (EMN): Three candidates from the 8th Western Angami assembly constituency in Kohima district have solicited votes from the electorate with the promise to deliver good governance.
The candidates made this appeal during a common platform that was conducted on Feb. 12 at the Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) ground in Sechü Zubza, the sub-divisional headquarters of the western Angami region.
The day’s programme was organised by WAPO and attended by people from all the villages of the region and also from the five colonies under the constituency of Kohima town, including Daklane, New Market, Naga Hospital, Midland and Officers’ Hill.
Taking the privilege to address the public under one platform, the three intending candidates namely Kevisekho Kruse, Keneizhakho Nakhro and Asu Keyho shared their plans and personal manifestoes.
In his address, NDPP candidate and retired chief engineer of PHED, Kevisekho Kruse, said he intended to contest the forthcoming election to provide leadership to the constituency and the Nagas as a whole.
“Somewhere and somehow, quality leadership is missing at the moment. We therefore need to create leadership in order to take the society forward. Visionless leaders won’t solve our problems nor will they be able to take the society forward,” Kruse asserted.
“Going by the present scenario, so many elected legislators are too comfortable with what they are. Stating that greed for power has resulted in an unstable government,” Kruse exuded confidence that NDPP-BJP alliance would come to power under the leadership of the chief ministerial candidate Neiphiu Rio.
Describing Rio as ‘the tallest leader,’ Kruse expressed hope that good governance and prosperity would reign in the state under Rio’s leadership.
“If given a chance to get elected, I will serve the people of the constituency with all sincerity by being accessible to the public,” he pleaded.
NPF candidate Keneizhakho Nakhro, has promised to bring about changes in the system of governance.
“I will work in accordance with the opinion of the public and provide transparency and accountability. My desire to contest is for a change,” Nakhro affirmed adding that his chair would be open for the public at all times to come.
Stating that the regional party (cock symbol) always gets a strong mandate in 8-Western Angami assembly constituency, Nakhro, who is the youngest among the three candidates, exuded confidence that the people of the constituency would vote for the cock symbol even in the forthcoming election.
In sharing his visions and plans for the constituency, Nakhro has underlined his priority in bestowing basic necessities and also create employment opportunities for the people, particularly the youth.
NPP candidate Asu Keyho stated that his party would be the decider in the formation of government.
“I foresee that it is going to be a coalition government as no party will have an absolute majority in the ensuing election. And therefore, NPP elected candidates will be the decider in government formation,” Keyho said making a comparison of the Manipur elections.
On his plans and programmes, Keyho stressed on road connectivity and further on development of both rural urban areas. He also expressed hope that every voter of the constituency would exercise their votes wisely in order to elect the right leader.
