With the objective to give candidates an opportunity to share their ideas and vision for development as well as to help the citizens make an informed choice while casting their votes, the Khaghaboto Area Students’ Union (KASU) on Tuesday organised a ‘Common platform speech’ for all the candidates contesting from 5 Ghasphani-I AC at Khaghaboto public ground.

A total of five candidates are contesting from 5 Ghasphani-I AC including Jacob Zhimomi from BJP, Akavi N Zhimomi from INC, Vikato S Aye from NPF, Imsumongba Pongen from JDU and V Phushika Aomi as Independent. However, only two candidates namely Akavi N Zhimomi and V Phushika Aomi attended the common platform programme.

Speaking at the programme, Akavi, who is contesting for the second time from the constituency, questioned the gathering on what has the current candidate of 5 Ghasphani-I AC done in 10 years. While assuring to fight for their causes and all the citizens of Ghasphani I constituency, Akavi has appealed to support him in the upcoming election.

Akavi also admitted that he is contesting the election in order to change the system and to represent their voice. He questioned the gathering whether they are willing to part of the change saying that if they do not change the system today, it would be too late.

Akavi has blamed the entire political system for ruining the peaceful atmosphere and the pathetic condition of people living right now. He further stated that the BJP candidates in Nagaland are in not good position.

Also speaking at the function, Phushika was taken aback by the absence of certain candidates and remarked that it showed true reflections of democracy.

Describing Khaghaboto as his home town, Phushika said he is contesting the election with an objective to break the barriers that are dividing the society and to nurturing the youth. He has also termed tribalism as a cancerous thing, they have to diffuse it and stated that in all his youth he had stood for a common interest and welfare of the people and never shied away from facing the truth.

Phushika expressed disappointment to note that the elected candidate from 5 Ghasphani-I AC for 10 years was absent in today’s programme.

Stating that transforming Ghasphani-I constituency would change the face of Nagaland, Phushika has assured to fight corruption if he is elected. He added that the Local Area Development Fund (LADF) is not for MLA pocket money but for development.

Phushika added that five years is good enough for sincere leaders to bring change by involving everyone. He further stated that politician could also do missionary work by displaying honesty.
