8 candidates, one standby file nominations for Nagaland elections from Dimapur

As many as nine candidates, including a standby, filed their nomination papers for the Dimapur-I, II and III Assembly constituencies with the Returning Officer at the Deputy Commissioner office in Dimapur, on Monday.

An Independent candidate, Supu Jamir said he is contesting as an Independent as he was denied a BJP ticket. He said there is no question of withdrawing his candidature, while expressing confidence of coming out in flying colours.

S Amento Chishi of INC said that he is contesting in the Assembly election due to public demand and that he has no intention of withdrawing his candidature.

Meanwhile, Kerenjungla Longkumer of NDPP also filed nomination as a standby candidate.

Dimapur-III AC: K Lun Tungnung is contesting as an Independent. He said after filing the nomination papers that the younger generation should look beyond money power and choose someone who can bring real change.

Hekani Jakhalu of NDPP ticket said after filing her nomination papers that she is confident of winning the election not because of her strength but because of the people, women, youth and others who are rooting for her as they want change. She added that she is fighting for the people.

On various rumours and allegations against her, she replied that she is upset about lots of propaganda against her, as she has a dream and goal to work for the people. ‘Many people have tarnished my image but I need to focus on the bigger goal and picture,’ she added.
