
Dimapur, March 13 (EMN): CAN Youth launched its first life skill manual on child rights, mental health, substance abuse and leadership for youth and adolescents at Buna Café on March 12.
The life skills manual was launched by Dr. Chiekroshuyi Tetseo, additional director and state nodal officer, NTCP, Dr. C Keso, deputy director and state program officer, NMHP, Wetshete Thopi, assistant professor, Patkai Christian College and Tsenthungo Nyamo, Dimapur Urban Chairman Council Federation (DUCCF) president, a press release informed.
Jenpu Rongmei, chief functionary, CAN Youth spoke about the lack of space and opportunities among the young people.
Stating that child rights is an important matter as the advancement of civilisation creates more problems and issues, Nyamo encouraged the young people to be responsible citizens and urged to be aware of child rights so as to ensure protection and development of children.
Dr. Keso mentioned that at any point of time, 6-7% of Indian people suffer from mental illness and around 9-10% suffers from common mental disorder and spoke on the importance of awareness and life skills to reach out to the community and society in large.
Emphasising that churches and schools should put more importance to bring about holistic development among young people, Dr. Tetseo challenged everyone to make our society healthy.
A short animated video on tobacco was presented, produced by CAN Youth with the purpose of raising awareness to adolescents and youths to reach out to the community and society.
