
Master trainers from Can Youth, trainees, teachers and
students of SRK Consultants under DDU-GKY after the mock drill in Padumpukhuri
on Saturday.
- DIMAPUR — Can
Youth, in collaboration with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority
(NSDMA), conducted the 2nd phase five-day community first responder training
programme at the Rongmei Customary Court in Chungaizaeng Colony, Burma Camp,
from April 7 to the 12th with the participation of 50 trainees.
- An update from Can Youth stated that the programme
culminated with a mock drill simulating earthquake scenario at SRK consultants
under DDU-GKY at Padumpukhuri, Dimapur. It stated that approximately 93
students from SRK consultants along with master trainers and teachers
participated in the exercise.
- The mock drill began with a simulated earthquake and
building collapse, where the master trainers initiated search and rescue operations
by demonstrating crucial steps, including situation assessment, locating and
extricating trapped individuals.

- It stated that 93 students and teachers actively
participated and gained hands-on experience in search and rescue techniques
such as searching for trapped individuals, providing emergency care and
evacuating the simulated disaster area.
- The mock drill also incorporated training in cardiopulmonary
resuscitation (CPR) with demonstrations and practice sessions conducted for the
participants.
- The primary aims of the drill was to enhance preparedness
and response capabilities, promote a culture of safety and resilience, identify
areas for improvement in emergency protocols, enhance collaboration and
communication amongst participants and build confidence and competence in
search and rescue operations.
