Dimapur, April 10 (EMN): In view of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak which has prevented the Catholic community from coming together to celebrate the Holy Week and Tridium (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday), the Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) has appealed to all Catholic families to commemorate special Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
CAN president Johnny Ruangmei has asked all the Catholic families to sing the song "The Old Rugged Cross" at 4 pm on Good Friday either on the terraces or where family members could gather. CAN has also requested all parishes in the Diocese of Kohima to ring the church bell at 3 pm for 40 times symbolising the 40 days passion of the Lord.
On Easter Sunday, all the families are requested to sing the song "Halleluiah He is risen" at 9 am. It also requested all parishes in the Diocese of Kohima to ring the church bell symbolising the triumph of Christ over sin and death.
CAN further urged the priests, clergy and nuns working in the diocese of Kohima to offer prayers during the Holy Eucharistic celebration for healing of the sick, especially those infected by novel coronavirus, for protection from all diseases upon the people of Nagaland and the world from the virus, and wisdom of God to dawn upon the temporal leaders of Nagaland in the fight against novel coronavirus.
