Dimapur, Dec. 17 (EMN): Kohima Forest division and Kohima Police have collaborated to initiate a campaign to create environmental awareness among the people.
In the first phase of this project, both Forest and Police signages were kept at 40 strategic locations in Kohima , an update informed.
It said that the campaign was initiated by Manoj Kumar A, superintendent of police, Kohima and Rajkumar M, divisional forest officer (DFO), Kohima.
The DFO stated that the 'content of these innovative signages is mainly to target the pedestrians.'
" The intention of using colourful signages which include memes and various quotes is to grab the attention of the viewers with a hope that the sense and duty which humans owe to nature would be initiated," it read.
It further said that many people contributed their ideas, 'which was an immense help in bringing out the completed signages'.
He further stated that in the coming months, it would be displayed digitally in strategic locations to create awareness among the people residing in Kohima.
It said that SP, Kohima shared that along with creating awareness about environmental issues, the project aims to streamline traffic in the city and instill traffic discipline among the masses by putting up signages'.
"SP, Kohima informed that views and suggestions of the community were sought for this project as part of community policing and further urged all to follow traffic rules and respect traffic signages as a responsible citizen," it read.
Kohima Police has also identified accident prone areas in the city and appropriate signages will be put up in the identified locations to ensure better road safety, it added.
