Dimapur, Jan. 27: The 45 youth from Northeast states arrested in connection with a call centre scam operating in Noida on Dec. 21, 2018, are still inside Luskar jail. The general secretary of Naga Students’ Union Delhi, Mathiuchunbou Rimai informed this to Eastern Mirror on Sunday.
According to him, the accused youth have employed lawyers in their bid to get bail. Rimai admitted that as a student body, NSUD had been working hard, looking for ways to bail them out at the earliest. He added the student body had been constantly pressurising the lawyers to hasten the bail process.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the NSUD stated: “…those accused were innocent, however the job portals persuaded them and compelled to forcefully work under the command of supervisors not aware of their intentions and earned a meagre amount to sustain a living and support their parents. It’s irony that the owner of the scam company is absconding whereas the innocent employees are in threat. Therefore, the union vehemently appeal the concern authority (sic) and police to take a stringent action against the masterminds and release those innocent accused who are victimised.”
