
Dimapur, Jan. 15 (EMN): A three-day 50th anniversary celebration of the Chokri Area Baptist Youth Fellowship (CABYF) got underway at Thenyizu village under Phek district on January 15 evening on the theme ‘Proclaim liberty in Christ.’
The opening ceremony was marked with colourful extravaganza by the host Thenyizu Sunday School team, while Rev. P Bonny Resü, lead pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church, Dimapur, unveiled the 50th anniversary monolith and Rev. Vevotso Theluo, chairman of Chokri Area Baptist Church Council (CABCC) led in the flag hoisting.
An update from CABYF stated professor of Applied Theology from Oriental Theological Seminary, Bade, Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho-o delivered a message on ‘Where are you’ during the introductory service. It stated that Cho-o spoke on the importance of self examination to know where one stands at and know where they should be. He added that knowing oneself would lead to the right path of God's way.
While questioning the youths at their spiritually stand, he asked them to know their existence by seeking their origin to discover themselves and get closer to God. Also reminding that the road to perfection is always under construction, he called upon the youth to improvised their talents to achieve their attributed goals.
Stating that they not born by accident but for a purpose, he reminded the youths to make best use of the purpose given by God.
CABCC chairman, Rev. Vevotso Theluo, in his greetings, appreciated the pioneers of the fellowship. He also urged the youth to take advantage of the anniversary and become a messenger of God. He asked them to make the best used of the fellowship by getting closer to God and give more effort in praising the living God.
Other speakers of the three-day celebration would include Rev. P Bonny Resü; Rev. Dr. Sülüveyi Rhakho, director of Harvest Ministries International; Colo Mero, director of Life Ministries.
The three-day celebrations would also be marked by series of competitions such as quartet, solo, group indigenous, theme song, choir with instrument and bible quiz.
A total of nine villages including one town namely Thipuzu, Phusachodu, Phuyoba, Khalazu Bawe, Khulazu Basa, Kikruma village, Chesezu, Thenyizu, North Kikruma and Chetheba town are under CABYF. Hundreds of youth from different churches within the area are taking part in the celebration.
