DIMAPUR — Nagaland finished on 50 for one in their first inning, trailing Meghalaya by 58 runs at the close of play (day 1) of the final (plate group) match of the Col. C K Nayudu Trophy, which is being played in Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, from February 18 to 21.
According to an update from the Nagaland Cricket Association, Meghalaya was bowled out for 108 runs. Following the loss of their first wicket at 26 runs, Meghalaya struggled to recover as Neizekho (3/34) and Raja Swarnkar (3/23) dismantled the remaining batsmen with ease.
Hem Bahadur, the captain of Nagaland, also contributed with two wickets. Among the Meghalaya players, only Bharali provided some resistance, but unfortunately, he was run out when he had scored 43 runs.
Nagaland's inning began with a first-ball wicket, as Zipa misjudged an incoming delivery from Abhishek, resulting in his stumps being rattled as he attempted to leave the ball.
Following the early dismissal, Mughavi and Samuel displayed sensible batting, guiding the Nagaland team to a score of 50 runs without any further loss of wickets until the umpires called off the day's play due to bad light.
Nagaland will resume their innings tomorrow with the aim of putting as many runs as possible on the board. However, they will also be cautious about securing the first-inning lead early in the morning.
Day 2 appears to be a make-or-break day for both teams, as it will almost certainly determine the outcome of the remaining days of the match.
