- DIMAPUR — BZ
Entertainment, a leading drama and film society, has achieved historic
milestone in its mission to promote HIV awareness and combat stigma in Nagaland
by successfully conducting 121 street play performances.
- An update from the organisation stated that the significant
public health awareness campaign was conducted in collaboration with the
Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS).
- The initiative began on November 17, 2023, at Naga Shopping
Arcade (Supermarket) in Dimapur and covered multiple districts before
culminating on February 15, 2025, in Peren district.
- It mentioned that BZ Entertainment performed 10 impactful
street plays in each participating district, effectively engaging communities
with crucial information on HIV transmission, prevention and the importance of
testing throughout the extensive campaign. It added that each performance was
meticulously crafted to educate the public while addressing the critical need
for HIV testing and eradicating societal stigma.
- The collaboration with NSACS also integrated on-site HIV
testing and counseling services, provided by the mobile integrated counseling
and testing centre (MICTC) team. It ensured that audiences not only gained
awareness but also have access to confidential testing and support services.
- To further enhance accessibility to HIV-related resources,
BZ Entertainment displayed the contact details of district programme officers
(DPOs) at each event. It added that the proactive measure empowered individuals
to seek additional information or assistance, fostering a sustained impact
beyond the performances.
- It mentioned that the 121-show milestone was a testament to
the unwavering commitment of BZ Entertainment and NSACS to raise awareness and
reduce the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS. The campaign reached key districts
across Nagaland including Dimapur, Kohima, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Tseminyu,
Noklak, Kiphire, Peren and Tuensang. Each performance was met with enthusiastic
engagement, reflecting the community’s growing awareness and willingness to
address this critical public health issue.
