DIMAPUR, AUGUST 19
One businessman was shot
at by one miscreant in Dimapur today. According to the police, at around 12 noon, one Aman Jain s/o Ashok Jain was shot at by one miscreant while the former was in his shop- Sai Electricals located at GS Road, Dimapur.
According to the press note of the police, the victim received a single bullet injury in the lower right shoulder and was immediately evacuated for medical assistance. The police have recovered one fired case of a 7.65 calibre bullet from the scene.
According to the press note, while the police have not received any specific complaint, the motive of the crime is suspected to be related to extortion. The police have initiated investigation into the case and in this regard, a case has been registered in the East Police Station.
Efforts are underway to arrest the miscreant involved, it added.
Meanwhile, strongly condemning the incident the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry said while a sense of hope and peace is prevailing in the state after the signing of the ‘framework agreement’ (although contents are yet to be known) on August 3, it is very unfortunate to witness that anti-social elements are on the prowl to disturb the peaceful atmosphere and create unwarranted apprehension in the society.
The DCCI stated that unknown miscreants fired gun shots inside Sai Electricals at Marwarri Patti targeting the life of Aman Jain, whose brother owns the shop.
“Providence saved the life of Aman as he was hit only on the arm and is reportedly out of danger. Such crimes taking place in broad day light shows scant disregard by the criminals for the well established police force in Dimapur,” the DCCI said in a press release. It added that crimes of similar nature occurring repeatedly have brought down the level of business to a pitiable condition. The patience of business community in Dimapur is running out and as mulled earlier, the DCCI may call for indefinite closure of business establishments any time out of fear for more of such attacks on businessmen, it warned.
“We appeal the law enforcing agencies to exhibit its efficiency once again by nabbing the culprits of Wednesday’s shooting incident, at the earliest,” it appealed.
