Dimapur, March 18: In what has been condemned by the East Dimapur Business Association as an act of pure ‘hooliganism’, an unidentified Naga man was reported to have assaulted Dr Aotoshi, a leading Naga businessman, on Saturday evening.
According to the vice president of East Dimapur Business Association, Mar Longkumer, Dr Aotoshi was ‘badly’ assaulted at around 6.10 pm on Saturday near Nissan showroom located at Purana bazaar junction.
Reportedly, a vehicle (Renault Kwid) bearing the registration number NL-07-H3076, tried to overtake Dr Aotoshi’s car from the wrong side, after which its occupant started abusing him verbally at first, and then physically.
But, as per reports, by the time police arrived at the scene, the occupant of the maroon-coloured Renault Kwid was already missing. Aotoshi’s face, according to sources, was ‘badly’ bruised. The beating stopped only after his wife, and other arrived, it was reported. Mar Longkumer said that the East Dimapur Business Association “totally condemns” the incident. “It is totally uncivilized. And such acts of hooliganism has no place in a civilized society”, he said.
The Darogapathar Youth Organisation, of Darogapathar village, has also denounced the reported assault. The organisation issued a note on Saturday evening demanding that the district authorities identify the perpetrator for prosecution.
‘The Darogapathar Youth Organisation vehemently condemns the unprovoked assault meted out on one of our senior member of our village namely Dr Aotoshi , pro vice chairman, Delhi Public School,’ the message from the youths stated. ‘The DYO requests the district administration to identify the culprits and book them as per the rightful law. And the DYO also request all the right-thinking citizens to condemn such uncivilized act of violence.’
