Peren District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) has decided to write a reminder letter to the Chief General Manager of BSNL, Dimapur, for providing telecommunication facility to the new district headquarters at the earliest.
The decision to this effect was taken in its monthly DPDB meeting on May 6 under the chairmanship of Vice Chairman DPDB and Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Zarenthung Ezung.
Meanwhile, Peren Division Forest Officer (DFO) briefed the board about the tree farming and work programmes under the Forest department and transportation of finished product from saw mills in Peren district to other parts of the state. After thorough discussion, the board accepted the proposal for taking out the finished product with criteria of 300 cft per truck. It also decided to relax ban on timber operation till May 31 as requested by the Timber Association, Peren.
Meanwhile, agenda for upgradation of Ikiesing Memoral School in Jalukie to Class X and the United Christian School in New Jalukie to Class VIII was deferred to the next DPDB meeting for lack of necessary criterias.
SP Peren, V John, highlighted the difficulties of the DEF Peren to cope up with the present strength, which is about 390 personnel, to contain law and order situation in the district. The board deliberated and took the seriousness of the situation and decided to apprise the higher authority for re-deployment from different battalion in the state to Peren district or make other arrangement. A platoon each to Jalukie, Peren and Tening will suffice the minimum requirement, stated SP Peren.
Also expressing the need for a crime van to ferry the under trial prisoners in the district, the board decided to forward the proposals to the higher authority for consideration.
DEO Peren apprised the board about the results of the HSLC & HSSLC 2016 examination. The board decided to facilitate Ramdithou, Headmaster Government High School Dungki, for securing cent percent pass result in the HSLC examination.
The chairman thanked the members for their participation, and requested the members to cooperate with him in taking the district forward.
