DIMAPUR — The Bureau of Indian Standards (BSI), Ministry of Consumer Affairs under Food and Public Distribution, on Tuesday conducted a sensitisation programme on the use of BSI certified products in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Dimapur.
Barashajyoti Baishya, BIS consultant, was the resource person of the sensitisation programme, wherein he made presentation on the BIS and its recent initiatives.
He informed that the Gram Pradhans were provided with valuable insights into how BIS standards play a crucial role in various sectors including agriculture, industry and consumer protection.
He added that Gram Pradhans were also briefed on the effective use of informative Gram Panchayat booklets containing important standards. Besides, they were also informed about the importance of adhering to those standards in government purchases to ensure that public funds are utilised efficiently and effectively.
The event was chaired by extra assistant commissioner (EAC) of Dimapur, Imlijungla Lemtur.
The programme was organised by BSI Guwahati branch office for 41 Gaon Panchayats of Nagaland.
