Dimapur, November 8: Mokokchung district Bharat Scouts & Guides observed the 66th foundation day in the office premises of the District Youth Resources, Mokokchung, on November 7.
Exhorting the gathering on the occasion, District Youth Resources Officer, K Libemo Jami said Scouts and Guides movement was initiated to inculcate the spirit of voluntary service in students. Jami also mentioned that the overall personality development of a student is enhanced through extra-curricular activities. He said Mokokchung district has higher number of Scouts and Guides which indicates sincere dedication and guidance of the concerned officials.
Delivering a short speech on the significance of the day, ADOC (S), Nungsanglemba mentioned that the Bharat Scouts and Guides was established on November 7, 1950, by merging Boy Scouts Association India, the Hindustan Scouts Association and the Girl Guides Association. He said the Bharat Scouts and Guides was recognised by the World Organization of Scouts Movement and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
The programme was chaired by Scout Master, Purtoshi, while the invocation was pronounced by DTC, Jongpongla.
In a related programme, Wokha unit of the Bharat Scouts & Guides (BS&G) observed its foundation day on November 7 at PWD junction, Wokha town, with T Chobenthung Odyuo, SDEO and District Secretary of BS&G as the chief guest.
Exhorting the members, the chief guest quoted words from Lord Baden Powell who said, “A scout is never taken by surprise; he knows exactly what to do when anything unexpected happens.”
Later, a badge was dispatched to the district officials for a free will donation. The programme was led by Thunglamo Odyuo, media secretary
BS&G, while the vote of thanks was said by Bichano Shitiri, District organiser (G).
The programme concluded with a song ‘God bless my Nagaland’ led by H Orenpomo Ngullie, DOC (S) BS&G, Wokha unit.
