Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): The 93rd battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) gave a warm welcome to ultra-marathon runner Samir Singh (45) of Kanaheda village in Madhya Pradesh following his arrival in Kohima on April 25.
According to a DIPR update, Singh has been running the marathon from Wagha border since Dec. 1 2017 which was flagged off by KK Sharma, DG of the BSF and sponsored by Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. Singh has covered the coastline and the entire border of the nation as a tribute to the martyrs of the BSF “Bharat Ke Veer.”
According to a statement from BSF officials, the security force has decided to support the run and provide necessary assistance including boarding and lodging to Samir Singh and his team of 5-6 members wherever the BSF is stationed.
Singh will be running 80-100 km per day including night hours. He has covered Amritsar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Abohar, Sriganganager, Sirsa, Hissar and Rohtak, till Delhi in one week. He reached Aizawl on April 16 evening and reached Tuvai under Churachandpur district on April 21 and then to Imphal on April 24 and reached Kohima on Wednesday.
The runner's next destination will be Itanagar, Guwahati, Gangtok, Patna, Bareilly, Dehradun, Shimla, Manali, Leh, Kargil, Srinagar, and Jammu and will culminate at Wagha after five months.
