Dimapur, July 19 : The pathetic conditions of the roads under the jurisdiction of the BRO all over Nagaland and especially the NH-29 (earlier NH-150) that connects the commercial city of Dimapur, state capital Kohima to Jessami in Manipur state via Pfutsero town of Phek district has attracted the ire of the public time and again and several representations to the BRO authorities have been met with lukewarm response.
In this regard, Neiba Kronu, Parliamentary Secretary Planning & Co-ordination, Evaluation, Monitoring & Taxes, Government of Nagaland while on his recent visit to New Delhi invited the Director General, BRO to Nagaland to personally assess the road conditions.
Therefore, on his maiden visit to Nagaland, the Director General (DG) BRO arrived at Kohima on July 18. The Parliamentary Secretary called on him at the BRO Headquarters, Kohima.
While appreciating the Chief of BRO Lieut. General Suresh Sharma for his prompt visit and the concern shown by him towards the people of Nagaland, the Parliamentary Secretary apprised the DG about the condition of roads particularly NH-29 and the problems faced by the local people due to negligence by BRO in the past.
The DG, BRO assured to inspect the NH-29 immediately and order to start the work at the earliest.
The Parliamentary Secretary has therefore appealed to the civil societies, villages and all the general public to co-operate and assist the BRO personnel during the maintenance works.
