British army chief visits Kohima

Dimapur, Feb. 13 (EMN): General Sir Nicholas Carter, KCB, CBE, DSO, ADC, Chief of the General Staff, accompanied by Lady Louise Anne Carter visited Kohima on February 13. The British army chief was received by the IG Assam Rifles (North) at its head quarters. The army chief was briefed on the Battle of Kohima fought during the WW II at the helipad with the view of the hills where the actual battle was fought. The Chief of General Staff then visited the famous WW II cemetery. At the cemetery, wreath laying ceremony was organised for the visiting guests under the aegis of Assam Rifles. Guard of honour was also presented to the dignitary. The Chief of General Staff of UK along with his wife went around the cemetery and paid homage to the fallen heroes.
