KOHIMA — The suspect involved in the attempted armed robbery at the SBI Chedema branch on October 31 has surrendered to Kohima Police.
Police sources told Eastern Mirror that the suspect surrendered at the North Police Station on the night of November 6 and is currently in custody. Officials said further details were awaited at the time of filing this report.
The attempted robbery took place at around 12:30 p.m. on October 31, when an unidentified man armed with a pistol and claiming to be wearing an explosive device entered the SBI Chedema branch and demanded money. The on-duty security guards prevented the robbery, recovered the looted cash, and seized the pistol. The suspect managed to flee the scene.
A case was registered at the North Police Station and a manhunt was launched. Kohima Police later issued a wanted notice seeking public assistance, identifying the suspect as 35-year-old Vitoulu Domeh, son of Kho Domeh from Zhavame village in Phek district.
Police are expected to release more information as the investigation progresses.
