Dimapur, Dec. 16 (EMN): Brahma Kumaris (BK), Kohima centre, organised a ‘Peace Angel Rally’ from Sokhriezie Park to Ura Academy in Kohima on December 15 on the theme “Universal peace and harmony.”
Flagging off the peace rally, minister of Higher Education and special guest of the event, Temjen Imna Along, said the peace rally initiative would build a strong endeavour and effort from every citizen of the state and country at large to have peace within oneself to achieve peace all around. He congratulated the participants and the Brahma Kumaris, a DIPR report stated.
He also lauded the organisation, which is recognised worldwide, for helping people overcome many difficulties through meditation and bringing communities together.
BK Sister Rupa Raj stated that the Brahma Kumaris is a spiritual movement that originated in Hyderabad during the 1930s. Adding that it teaches a form of meditation that focuses on identity as souls, as opposed to bodies, she said BK believes that all souls are intrinsically good and that God is the source of all goodness.
She added that the organisation teaches to transcend labels associated with the body such as race, nationality, religion, and gender and it aspires to establish a global culture based on what it calls "soul-consciousness."
In 2008, the movement claimed to have more than 825,000 regular students with over 8500 centres in 100 countries.
Earlier, one BK sister spoke on the importance of value education and meditation and BK brother Vinod highlighted the aims and objectives.
