In a late report reaching here, a youth who went missing on January 9 while visiting Khonoma Dzükou, was found and reunited with his family and friends.The person, identified as one Menuo, along with some of his friends visited Khonoma Dzükou on January 9, and while returning home, lost his way in the woods at Seikhakie, some kilometers above Khonoma village.
According to Keviniso Meyase, president of Khonoma Youth Organisation (KYO), the boy lost his way while returning from Dzükou. After losing his way, he was said to have been loitering in the forest alone not knowing which way to go.
On hearing the news on January 9 evening, KYO immediately deputed some volunteers in search of the lost boy. Fighting the rain and the chili weather, KYO volunteers continued the search till 12 midnight but to no avail.
Early January 10 morning, KYO pressed on the search with more volunteers, numbering over 200. As reported, the volunteers went in search of the lost boy in every possible direction when finally, a section of the volunteers found the lost boy at around 9:15 a.m. He was brought to the village and safely handed over to his friends at 10:30 a.m. at a place called Hutobokha Hou.
The lost boy is reportedly a resident of Kezieke colony, Kohima. He works as a handyman of a Mini bus in Kohima.
Setting this story as an example, Khonoma Youth Organisation informed all visitors entering its jurisdiction to always inform the youth body so that no untoward incident happens in the near future.
On this note, the youth body has also asked visitors not to litter the areas. The KYO cautioned that defaulters would be penalized if they were found littering the places within the jurisdiction of Khonoma village.
