DIMAPUR — The Botsa Village Council (BVC) and its frontal organisations have condemned the alleged attempted rape and murder by Khrietuolie Kense, son of Savituo Kense of Tsiemekhu Basa village, on the evening of July 16.

In a press release on Saturday, the BVC stated that on the fateful evening, a mother of four children and a bonafide citizen of Botsa village, was allegedly waylaid and attacked by the perpetrator with intent to rape and murder while returning from her field.

According to the council, the accused allegedly attacked the woman in a secluded area, pinning her down and threatening her with a knife. She bravely fought back, sustaining serious injuries. Her cries for help alerted nearby individuals, causing the attacker to flee. The victim then reported the incident to the village, prompting the youth organisation to launch a manhunt, which led to the capture of the accused.

“BVC also categorically state that under no circumstances the case should be circumvented and bail be granted to the accused. In the event of such situation, the council will not hesitate to take any course of action,” the council cautioned.
