KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 28
‘Phizo & Media’ a book compiled and published by Zapuvisie Lhousa, was released today.
This is the second edition of “Phizo & Media” which is being embarked upon with the added bounty of other related articles and news-snippets written about the Nagas by other prominent journalists of substance.
The president of Naga National Council, AZ Phizo had been interviewed quite so very often by many journalists representing international magazines and newspapers. So also, some renowned pressmen from India went all the way to London, NNC Office Building, to converse with him.
The first edition of the book was a compilation of few interviews the NNC leader had with some of the high profile Indian journalists. Since the publication of the booklet, quite a few sincere inquiries have reached the author, particularly from the guild of young scholars and fertile seekers for the truth-most earnest.
The whole exercise of reproducing the select few pertinent statements on the eternal rights of the Nagas declared ‘yesterday’ for ‘tomorrow’ is to inculcate the youth of today with these profound truths of wisdom.
Meanwhile, the book was officially launched by Rev L. Suohie Mhasi, a friend of the author, at Angami Public Organisation (APO) hall, Kohima.
In his address, Rev Suohie lauded the author Zapuvisie Lhousa for publishing the book which he said will be of great asset.
“This book will be a treasure and property for generations to come,” he said maintaining that it (book) will be a guide for the upcoming generation for study and research.
Speaking during the book-release programme, former MLA Dr Dietho-o Yhoshü regarded the octogenarian author Zapuvisie Lhousa as “a living example of his time” and the “living father of Angami Public Organisation.” Mention be made that the author served as the first president of APO.
Dr. Dietho-o was all praise for the author who, in his entire life, has been contributing immensely for the Naga society, particularly to the Naga political issue as an active national worker.
It was just this year on March 27, where a book titled “Strange Country – My Experience in Naga Nationalism”, written by the same authored was released.
“This man, according to me, is a dictionary, a university and an encyclopedia,” Dr Dietho-o remarked.
“Naga nationalism flows very clearly in his life. The love of his people and nation is in his blood,” he said adding “Zapuvizie is an ardent and die hard person for his people and his land.”
Though, grateful that the Angamis had the privilege to lead the Nagas in so many ways, he opined that the Angamis as a tribe have been ungrateful people in many ways.
“The Angamis are truly indebted to every Naga tribe for standing behind our leadership in the past years. Going by what you have done to us (Angamis), we won’t be able to repay you back,” he said.
To this, the former legislator urged the Angami community to respond to the need of other people, and not only seek for favour.
“We (Nagas) must learn and grow and contribute together keeping in mind the welfare of the Naga people. Let us learn to lift up one another.”
Stating that Nagas need to come together as one family, he underlined the need to develop people-to-people contact, at the same time build up the link through books and journalism.
