Mokokchung, Oct. 7 (EMN): A book titled ‘Folk dance as ecumenical communication: A theological vision and mission’ authored by Rev. Dr. A Temjen Jamir, academic dean of Clark Theological College (CTC), was dedicated and formally released by Prof. Mar Pongener, principal of CTC, at the CTC Jongshinokdang hall on October 7.
In his brief note, the author said that the book was his humble attempt to investigate how the celebration of Naga cultural festivals and folk dance could help bring the people together on a common platform for interaction and participation irrespective of their status, background and religious affiliation.
‘Observing, participating and experiencing Naga cultural festivals during the past several years motivated me to explore the essence of ecumenical relations mechanism in ‘Naga folk dance,’ the author stated.
Professor Imsutoshi Jamir, who wrote the foreword for the book, stated that among many, the author’s main contribution was an attempt to read, explore and interpret Naga folk dance as text.
‘The present book can be valued as crucial and undeniable strength in Tribal/Naga Cultural Studies,’ Jamir said.
While releasing the book, professor Mar Pongener congratulated the author. He has lauded Dr. Temjen for his sincerity and sound academic and contextual approach in all his writings.
The book was published by Christian World Imprints, Delhi.
