Manipur Congress leader Keisham Meghachandra Singh’s residence was targeted in a suspected grenade blast, with no casualties reported
IMPHAL — A suspected hand grenade exploded near the gate of Manipur Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Keisham Meghachandra Singh’s residence in Thoubal district on Thursday night, police sources said.
The explosion occurred at around 8.15 pm near the Congress legislator’s residence at Yairipok Bishnunaha under Yairipok Police Station. No casualties were reported.
Police suspect that an unidentified person threw the explosive near the residence. The identity of the suspected perpetrator and the motive behind the incident have not yet been established.
Police personnel rushed to the area following the explosion and launched a search operation.
Women residents of Yairipok Bishnunaha also condemned the incident.
The Congress, in a post on X, condemned the attack and called on the government to act swiftly, identify those responsible and ensure that such incidents do not go unanswered.
Singh, who represents Wangkhem Assembly constituency in Thoubal district, previously served as president of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee before becoming the CLP leader.
