The monthly meeting of the District Planning & Development Board of Phek district for the month of September was conducted on the 10th. The meeting was presided over by vice chairman of the board, Muroho Chotso.
During the meeting, officials of the district’s agriculture establishment highlighted the loss of property caused by landslides and flood during July and August this year. Officials from the Home Guards and Fire Service department presented their activities before the board officials.Another matter that was raised during the meeting was that some government offices were found locked for days. The officials discussed the matter and cautioned officers ‘not to repeat the same which would be viewed seriously.’
The board members were also informed that the departments that have not yet purchased dustbins provided under the Swachh Bharat mission are to purchase them at the earliest. Likewise, the board decided that extortion demands that the departments received from any Naga underground groups should be reported and forwarded to the deputy commissioner’s office.
Another matter that the board discussed was about a cleanliness drive that youths of Phek town would be undertaking in all offices and homes. The district’s officials were requested to ‘contribute generously’.
Officials of the Public Works Department are also requested to submit to the deputy commissioner the detailed project report and cost estimates for road, culverts, hanging bridge etc for connection to various villages. They are to submit the reports at the earlier.
The meeting also reviewed the minutes of the previous DPDB meeting regarding the proposal for opening an Institute for Chokri literature in Chozuba town. The sub divisional education officer of Chozuba told the board that the matter would be taken up with the authorities ‘after comment from the CPO.’
The departments of CAWD and Legal Metrology will be presenting their departmental activities in the next meeting of the board.
