Defending champions Blue Star Cricket Club, Dimapur along with debutants Bashers CC and Kohima Hornbills today registered easy entry into the semi-finals of the of the 6th Silver Cup T20 Cricket Tournament organised by Youth Department of Nepali Baptist Church Kohima under the theme ‘Peace and Unity through Cricket’. Playing the last match and third quarter final, defending champs Blue Star CC Dimapur knocked Eighties CC Wokha by 120 runs. Electing to take the bat, Blue Star set a huge tally of 244 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. Michael scored highest 56 runs while Deepak made 50 runs. Eighties CC bowler Phydemo and Rejanthung took 2 wickets each, but while chasing the target they managed to score 123 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Blue Star bowler Gaurav downed 2 rival wickets while Michael was adjudged the man of the match for his 56 runs and 2 wickets.
Earlier, playing the first quarter final match, Bashers CC Kohima won against Eleven Weavers by 51 runs. Electing to bat first, Bashers set a target of 170 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. Wapang and Arjun contributed highest 32 and 29 runs respectively. Eleven Weavers bowler Upender claimed two rival wickets, and while chasing the target they managed to score 118 runs losing 8 wickets in complete innings. Upender scored highest 48 runs while Bashers bowlers Suresh Thapa picked four rival wickets while Rahul took 2 wickets. Suresh was adjudged the man of the match. He received the award from Chairman of NBCK Town Area Prayer Fellowship, Nanda Prasad Tiwari as match patron.
In the second match, former runners-up Kohima Hornbills overcame Sparks CC by 7 wickets. Taking the bat first Sparks CC managed to score a minimal 89 runs losing all wickets in 16 overs with Vikram contributing highest 27 runs. Kohima Hornbills bowler Sanjeev took 3 wickets and Pranjal downed 2 wickets. Chasing the target, they achieved it in 12.2 overs 3 three wickets with Paul contributing highest 32 runs and Tapitu scoring 28 runs (not out). Sanjeev was declared man of the match, which was handed over by Convener Mission Committee NBCK, Rana Chetri.
