Dimapur, Nov. 5 (EMN): The indefinite blockade on NH 702 imposed by the Tizit Area Student’s Union (Tasu) began on Monday.
The union issued a statement informing that at the request of the additional deputy commissioner and the department concerned, members of Tasu and ‘public leaders’ of Tizit area met the authorities.
The union, it stated, demanded that the contractor involved in the ISC road project be “physically present” and clarify why the road was not completed yet; and the construction of RCC T-beam bridges not started “even after so many years.”
It asked the department what kind of action it has taken against the “erring contractors” for not executing the work even after several notices from the department.
According to the union, “the nature of overlooking by not responding to the demand is an ‘insult’ to the whole community.” It demanded all contractors involved in said projects to “come, clarify, and give assurance” that work will resume.
Until then, the union asserted it continue the blockade “and not allow the functioning of government offices and even the police personnel shall not be allowed for free movement within the Tizit jurisdiction.”
