- DIMAPUR — Under
the aegis of the National Health Mission (NHM), the District Health Society,
Kohima, in collaboration with allied departments—administration, Education,
Social Welfare, village council, and Village Health Nutrition and Sanitation
Committee—organised a Block Health Mela at Mengujuma Village Council Hall on
Thursday.
- According to a press release, the event aimed to reach the
public with benefits and provide access to quality healthcare services,
including essential medicines through various systems of medicine at no cost.
Focus group discussions (FGDs) on antenatal care (ANC), family planning (FP),
and exclusive breastfeeding were conducted by DCM/FWA and BAC.
- To ensure the successful implementation of the mela, a team
was led by Dr. Leamnyei Konyak, CMO Kohima, alongside Dr. Imchatoshi, Dy. CMO;
Dr. Khrievilhou Nakhro, DPO (RMNCHA+N); Dr. Rosemary Thurr (Obs and Gynae),
NHAK; Dr. Neikhrietsonuo (dermatologist), NHAK; Dr. Medozhanuo (ENT); Dr.
Akatoli (paediatrician), CHC Chiephobozou; Dr. Vizovotuo Lohe (MO), Jotsoma
PHC; Dr. Ruyangulie (MO), Mezoma PHC; Dr. Asezo Sekhose (dental surgeon), CHC
Chiephobozou; Dr. Medophretuo (MO), Ayush CHC Viswema; the MMU team; the RBSK
team; Dr. Pete, MO in charge, with the Sechu PHC team; the CHO in charge with
the Peducha HWC team; the DAPCU team; the NVBDCP team; the DPMU; the BPM Sechu
block; the BPM Chiephobozou block; the Doctors For You team; and the
ABPMJAY-CMHIS team.
- The screening report for the event detailed 128
OPD/registered participants, with 29 Digital Health IDs created and 23 Ayushman
Cards issued. Specialist consultations included 12 cases in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology, four breastfeeding mothers, and 12 paediatric cases.
- The NVBDCP screened 22 individuals, while two underwent tuberculosis
sputum tests. Eye screening identified 39 cases for cataracts, and 66
individuals were assessed for Non-Communicable Diseases, including hypertension
and diabetes. HIV/AIDS counselling reached 25 participants, with one antenatal
care case noted, alongside 66 oral cancer screenings and 13 dental screenings
or procedures.
