Blind man jailed 38 years, another gets life in Nagaland POCSO cases

DIMAPUR — A Fast Track Special Court (POCSO) in Dimapur has delivered convictions in two separate cases of sexual violence, sentencing one offender to 38 years of rigorous imprisonment and another to life imprisonment.


An update from the office of the Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO) informed that the court convicted and sentenced 47-year-old Temjenyapang of Mopungchuket village to 38 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 6 of POCSO Act.


A blind man, Temjenyapang, was found guilty of sexually assaulting four minor blind victims inside the institute for the blind which he operated.

The court, while pronouncing the judgement, observed that the offence was “aggravated not only by the vulnerability of the victims but also by the breach of trust and protection owed to them.”


In a separate case, the court convicted and sentenced Vikehye of Pimla village to life imprisonment for the rape and murder of his minor wife. He was sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 302 IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act.
