Dimapur, July 14 : Citizens in Dimapur are in for an electrical blackout with the Power department announcing a shutdown for reasons of maintenance, on July 16. Also, transmission lines for a number of administrative units in Wokha are to be charged on July 15. The electrical divisions of Dimapur and Wokha issued separated press releases on Thursday stating said information.
In Dimapur, power supply will be interrupted from 5 AM to 10 AM on the 16th due to “jungle cutting” and “maintenance work,” the city’s division stated. “In this connection all the ward chairman, village council, GBs and the esteemed consumers are requested to extend cooperation in cutting down the trees obstructing the transmission line and distribution line within their areas,” the note added.
Likewise for Wokha, the district’s power unit has informed that the 132 kV Wokha-DHEP transmission line passing through eight jurisdictions, would be “test charged.”
Work will be at 12 noon on July 15, the division informed in a separate note. The transmission “shall remain charged thereafter up to the dead end tower at DHEP switchyard,” the note stated.
“Therefore, all the public are informed not to touch the said line nor go near the same. Anybody doing so shall be doing so at their own risk and the department of Power shall not be held responsible for an untoward incident whatsoever,” Wokha citizens have been warned.
The units that would be affected are Wokha town, Longsa village, Wokha village, Yikhum village, old Ryphim village, new Ryphim village, Thillong village and the DHEP area.
