DIPHU — The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, East Karbi Anglong District (BJYM-EKADC), on Wednesday staged a protest in Diphu condemning the alleged attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s convoy during a Congress-led demonstration in Golaghat on June 30.

The protest, led by BJYM-EKADC president Jiten Bey, began from the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, BJP district office. Senior leaders including KAAC Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang, BJP-EKADC president Roland Killing, MLA Bidyasing Engleng, and several EMs, MACs, and party functionaries participated in the demonstration.

During the event, protesters raised slogans in support of the BJP and against the Congress, expressing solidarity with the Chief Minister and condemning the alleged act of aggression.

Speaking at the protest, CEM Ronghang criticised the incident, stating that around 20 Congress workers attempted to disrupt the CM’s visit by throwing water bottles at his convoy in Golaghat. He described the act as “unfortunate and uncalled for” and called on the Congress to refrain from such behaviour.

BJYM-EKADC president Jiten Bey alleged that the attack stemmed from the opposition’s frustration with the BJP government’s development work. He said that Congress had failed to deliver while in power, and resorted to such actions out of jealousy. Bey demanded that those involved in the incident be arrested and held accountable.
