Dimapur, Feb. 18 (EMN): Home Minister Kuzholuzo Nienu has been accused of violating the election model code of conduct (MCC) by way of using his designated “minister nameplate” while campaigning in Phek district.
In a letter of complaint addressed to the chief election commissioner (CEC) of the Election Commission of India, the Nagaland unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stated that the minister had committed violation of the MCC while campaigning at Porba village and neighbouring areas on Feb. 15.
Besides, it stated, the Home minister was ‘misusing government machineries such as government vehicles.’ Appealing to the CEC to take ‘immediate action,’ the party has asked the authorities to seize the government-owned vehicle alleged to have been used by the minister during the campaign.
