Dimapur, March 7 (EMN): The Phek unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the churches of fuelling religious hatred during the recently held state assembly election and of blatantly misusing the ‘holy church pulpit’ by going to the extent of showcasing fake videos about alleged atrocities on Christians by Hindu extremist.
A press release issued by the unit president Nucutso Cruho stated t ‘those videos were later confirmed to be untrue and purely based on propaganda. He has asked the church to authenticate sources before resorting to such acts.’
Cruho termed the fight in the 17th Chizami area constituency as ‘most difficult’ in terms of obstacles put up by the NBCC and CBCC and other unscrupulous leaders.
‘The sentiment of BJP supporters were hurt for branding them anti-Christians, RSS volunteers and Hindutva ideologists, who themselves were staunch Christians belonging to different churches’ he said.
He has accused the churches in the district of resorting to door to door visit in the garb of prayer group and asking the gullible villagers not to vote for the BJP. He also alleged that CBCC took a biased stand by urging the “born again Christians” not to vote for the BJP.
While reiterating the BJP’s support on clean election as initiated by the NBCC, he has accused the latter of going against mission of the campaign by asking the people not to vote for the BJP.
Meanwhile, the president thanked the BJP central leaders, state president and his team, mandal rank and file for their concerted efforts during the election.
He also congratulated all the elected BJP legislators and the BJP legislature party leader Y Patton and hoped that they will strengthen the party and take it to greater heights.
