Dimapur, Aug. 24 (EMN): In order to ensure the smooth implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PM-GKAY) in Mokokchung district, officials of BJP Mokokchung district held a coordination meeting with the ADS of department of Food and Civil Supplies (F&CS), N Jamonger Ao, in his office chambers on Monday.
PM-GKAY is a food security welfare scheme announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2020. The scheme is part of Atmanirbhar Bharat to supply free food grains to migrants and the poor. During the period May - November 2021, more than 81.35 crore people are expected to be benefited through the scheme, stated an update from the district party president, Imolemba Jamir, and the general secretary, S Moa Imsong.
During the interaction, the BJP Mokokchung district president Imolemba Jamir praised the department of F&CS for their exceptional work in reaching out to the people especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. He appreciated the department for carrying out the food distribution works in an orderly manner with active support of the village councils and ward authorities.
He further encouraged the department to continue with the good works, while he also assured all possible help from the party to benefit the people at the grassroots.
Also speaking in the meeting, N Jamonger Ao expressed gratitude to the BJP in Mokokchung district for reaching out to the department. He also briefed the party officials about the working system of the department in distributing the food grains through different outlets.
Senior inspector o F&CS, Mokokchung, Allen Imchen also shared about how the department was carrying out the PM-GKAY scheme in every part of the district so that every household is benefited through the central scheme.
Meanwhile, the BJP Mokokchung directed all the karyakartas in the different mandals to render every possible help to the officials of F&CS, village councils, ward authorities and the beneficiaries so that PM-GKAY scheme could benefit everyone in the society.
