Dimapur, Nov. 20 (EMN): BJP unit of 52 Longkhim-Chare Assembly Constituency has unanimously decided to remove its president Hongcho Sangtam with immediate effect for his alleged anti-party activities.
The decision to remove its unit president was taken during an emergency meeting on November 18 at the official residence of minister of Cooperation, Relief & Rehabilitation and MARCOFED, Imtilemba Sangtam. Following the removal of Hongcho Sangtam, the unit has elected Khumpise Sangtam as the new president.
A press release issued by the unit vice president, Yangthsase Sangtam, stated that the house had thoroughly deliberated on the anti-party activities of Hongcho Sangtam. It has accused him of indulging in anti-party activities for quite some time by hobnobbing with others by deliberately trying to weaken the position of sitting BJP minister, Imtilemba Sangtam.
It stated that when BJP minister Imtilemba Sangtam, as part of the ministerial team headed by the chief minister TR Zeliang was moving around at the national capital meeting with various union ministers and other important leaders for early resolution of the longstanding Naga political issue, Hongcho Sangtam started playing with his sinister design to prop up some other candidate to fight against party’s own sitting minister in the 52 Longkim-Chare Assembly Constituency.
After examining all his anti-party activities, the house unanimously decided to remove Hongcho Sangtam as its president with immediate effect.
