KOHIMA — Affirming
that the 12 BJP legislators in Nagaland are united and working for the
betterment of Naga society, Deputy Chief Minister and leader of BJP Legislature
Party, Y Patton, has urged the party workers and elected representatives to
avoid gossip and try to divide the party.
He stated this during the declaration programme of Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland president held at the party’s office in Kohima on
Tuesday. While congratulating the re-elected president Benjamin Yepthomi, he
asked all the BJP karyakartas and district presidents to give their cooperation
and support to the elected president.
Stating the legislators are elected by the members, Patton
urged the latter not talk ill and gossip to divide them. He also requested the
BJP legislators to take care of the karyakartas because without them they
cannot move forward. He also appealed to the karyakartas and legislators to set
aside the differences and work hand-in-hand even in the next election.
He also reminded the central leaders that BJP in Nagaland is
growing and expressed hope that there would be more legislators in the next
election. Besides, he expressed his desire to have the party’s government in
Nagaland in future.
He also advised the state president to cooperate with the
legislators and karyakartas to strengthen the BJP party in Nagaland.
Patton and Paiwang elected national council members
The national observer, V Muraleedharan, officially declared
Benjamin Yepthomi as the president of BJP Nagaland for the tenure 2024-27 after
he was unanimously elected as the lone candidate.
He also announced that Y Patton and P Paiwang Konyak have
been elected as the BJP national council members from Nagaland for 2024-2027.
The observer informed that organisational restructuring
process has been completed as far as Nagaland is concerned. He updated that
after the state elections are over in 50% of the state, the process for
election of the national president would start.
He also shared that Nagaland has enrolled almost two lakh
members in the Sangathan parv with about 8000 active members.
The national secretary, Phabhari Anil Anthony, expressed
that the party in Nagaland is doing well and working well as a team. He
expressed hope that BJP could become the number one party in the next state
election if they sincerely work hard.
Minister of PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, called upon
the members to work with new spirit.
“We have to work in line and in tune with national
perspective,” he said adding that by 2047, Nagaland should not be left behind
in terms of development.
“If we work with one vision in tune with national
perspective, party perspective and our leadership perspective, then only we
will be able to achieved greater results,” Zhimomi added.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Yepthomi asserted that the new tenure is
not just a renewal of responsibility but reaffirmation of collective commitment
to the vision and values that guide the party.
“It is only when we stand united across regions, communities
and constituencies that we can bring about real change,” Yepthomi said.
He urged everyone to extend cooperation, listen with empathy
and act with courage stating that “Naga’s growth cannot be achieved by one
individual or group but it requires collective effort of every party workers, leader
and supporter.”
“We are committed to uphold polices that uphold the dignity
of our people while ensuring their growth and welfare,” he said adding “From
empowering our youth to strengthening our economic base, BJP’s vision for
Nagaland is one of sustainable development, peaceful coexistence and lasting
prosperity.”
BJP legislators including Temjen Imna Along, Imkong Imchen,
Tovihoto Ayemi, Kropol Vitsu, Kazheto Kinimi, Sethrongkyu Sangtam, along with
BJP national vice president, M Chuba Ao, and many senior party workers were
also present in the programme.
The dedicatory prayer was led by Tsachola Rothrong, ST
morcha president of the state.
